Before you start

Make yourself familiar with the NZTA Fact sheet which you can view here

In order to apply for a V Endorsement you must have held a full Class 1 licence (car) for 2 Years and have completed a medical with your doctor.

(doctors usual fees will apply)

Pass Full License Test

The cost of the application is $142.60

Including the practical licence test, payable to the NZTA provider eg AA, VTNZ or VINZ.

You may need to pass the Full Licence Test in a car if you have not completed one in the last 5 years.

Police Check

This will start the process including the gaining of a police check. If you have spent more than 12 months outside of NZ at anytime you may need to gain a police and traffic report from the country(s) you have been in, and arrange to have this sent to NZTA in New Zealand

Apply for (V)

Make an application for your V endorsement at an NZTA agent i.e. AA, VTNZ or VINZ - Complete the DL20B application form which you can download here

Present it, along with your medical certificate and license, and photo ID to an NZTA agent like AA, VTNZ, or VINZ.
